Malta Temp guide (14k)
Boasting summer water temperatures of 25C+ a shortie is adequate though most go for a 3mm full-suit. The winter months have reasonable temp's though a drysuit is probably recommended.

  A bit about Malta

Malta is one of those places, like Paris, that you have to visit at least once in a lifetime. Almost all the glorious civilisations in the Med have stamped their identity in Malta. The Phoenicians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, Aragonese, the Knights of St John, all conquered and ruled the Island, at a time when it was the envy of all Mediterranean and European rulers for its strategic position at the Med's bull's-eye, ideal as a military and trading post. The ancient civilisations brought with them their riches, to spangle their newfound land with their grandeur visions; the island at the crossroads of their expansionist plans, so close to their heart. Today, these layers of civilisations lie side by side like books propped on a shelf Malta and the Maltese are woven, in part, by these ancient powers, and in part by European influence, especially the 166 years of British rule. All of this against a backdrop of sun and sea, crimson sunsets, blue sky and the Med aroma of wild thyme, fennel, carob trees; a dazzling world of light and openness. The sea around Malta is rated as one of the best in the Med for underwater photography. The sea is clear, you can see 30 metres underwater, and the architecture - boulders, caves, columns and cliffs is unique. The beaches nestle among limestone cliffs, blue clay slopes and plateaus, and sandy beaches - beaches that are a launchpad for watersports, for windsurfing, yachting, water-skiing, canoeing, para-sailing, snorkelling and of course Scuba-Diving.
